India came from behind to script a thrilling 4-2 victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in a Pool-B encounter of the hockey championship of the inaugural Afro-Asian Games today.

With both teams having already qualified for the semifinals, the high-voltage encounter for pool supremacy lived up to the expectations as both teams played attacking hockey.

The Indians, who trailed 1-2 at half time, came back with a vengeance after the break. The hosts grabbed the initiative early in the second half through two quick goals by Prabhjot Singh and Gagan Ajit Singh to change the complexion of the game just before the hooter.

Gagan Ajit, who struggled against Egypt and Nigeria in earlier matches, came back to his scoring ways as he sounded the board twice in the 41st and 67th minute.

Sandeep Michael (24th) and Deepak Thakur (39th) scored apiece. Pakistan scored both their goals in the first half in the 33rd and 35th minute through Khalid Shalim and Shakeel Abassi respectively.

India will now play Malaysia while Pakistan take on Asian Games champions South Korea in the semifinals
