Oh course there is a point. This is sport, anything can happen. We wouldn't watch sport if everything was supposed to happen as planned with out any chance for an upset. Argentina is good, but not great. The top 1-4 teams in the world are great. Everyone else is touchable, and even teams like Chile, T&T, Barbados and the States are capable of knocking off a powerhouse like Canada, Cuba or Argentina.

The mighty argies feel in '97 at the World Cup Qualifier, they fell in '99 at Pan-Ams, they have been beaten by teams in this region before and will be beaten again. At the end of it all it just matters who qualify's for the Olympics.

I have one comment about the Canada/Barbados tilt:
Its easy to blaim the heat, poor conditions, pitch conditions etc......But I think the Canadians guys would say that they fully under-estimated an their opponents. Luckily it did not cost them points, but may have hurt their goals against average end up tied in points with another team. They will come back with a better result vs T&T and Cuba.

Full marks to the Bajans. Obviouslly a spirited side with some skilled players. Great to see they are not intimidated by so-called "Better Teams". This match must have set the tone for the rest of the games in this tourney because T&T, the States and Chile all followed up with more impressive results.

I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting tournament and we may see maybe 1-2 suprise teams in the Semi's.

This is just to remind WWW that Argentina are not the defending champions in the Pan American Games.
