Pakistan: UAE hockey squad to visit in August

KARACHI: A 20-member UAE Junior Hockey Squad will visit Pakistan from August 5 to August 12 to play matches against club teams of Karachi.
The matches will be held at UBL Sports Complex, DHA Hockey Ground and Steel Town Hockey Ground. Talking to newsmen on Thursday at a local hotel, Executive Member of UAE Hockey Committee, Abdul Rahim said that Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will also hold a coaching camp for UAE team, which would be conducted by former Olympian Mohammed Shafique.
"The management of PHF is giving full support for promoting hockey in United Arab Emirates," he observed.
According to President UAEHC, Ismail Ali Al Banna and tour coordinator Reza Abidi, this will be the first ever visit of any UAE hockey team to Pakistan.
"The team comprise UAE nationals mostly and the step has been taken to promote hockey in UAE." ABN Amro Bank, Emirates Airlines, London Crown Hotel, and Hotel Mehran, Karachi will be the sponsors of the tour.
Captain Ahmed Al Sayegh will lead the team and accompanying officials including coach Gerhard Rach from Germany, Junior Coach Ms Lynne, Assistant Coach Osama while Ali Mohammed will be the pyshiotherapist. Dubai Sports Channel and Geo TV will telecast the event.
