Mike Corby, the president of the disbanding Hockey Association, has withdrawn his bid to be president of English Hockey, the new ruling body.

The HA?s financial irregularities were revealed soon after the former outstanding hockey and squash international became HA president. He has worked ceaselessly to try to pay off the debts. Now he would appear to be falling foul of Sport England?s wish that none of the former HA officials should take senior office in the new body.
Meanwhile David Matthews, England?s World Cup corner striker, who has had considerable success playing in the Netherlands, has been recalled by England for their two games against Malaysia at Lilleshall on May 9 and 10.
England, still finalizing their squad for this summer?s European Cup, have rested three of their most experienced men, Danny Hall, Mike Johnson and goalkeeper Simon Mason.
