Congress in March
The PAHF Congress and meetings are to be at Kingston (Jamaica) within the framework of the 1st. Women's Americas Cup in March 2001.

Congress which will be held on March 15, will include election of all
Officers and Board members. An Open Forum is to be held the same day.
- Competitions, Development, Medical and Umpiring Committees will meet on
March 1 while the Board will meet on March 14 and possibly again on 16th.

Taking advantage of the presence of the members of the planning group and
other Board members, the PAHF held a planning meeting in Paris on the day
following the FIH meetings. The plan for the years 1998-2001 was reviewed. The framework for the 2001-04 plan was developed and will be discussed more broadly at the meetings in Kingston.

McCrae resigns
The PAHF has regretfully accepted the immediate resignation of Judy McCrae, our Development Committee Chair. Judy has been a valued member of the PAHF in a number of capacities since 1991 and has served on the FIH DCC for the last three years.

Bev Johnson, a current member of the PAHF Development Committee and the PAHF
Co-ordinator for the Year for the Youth, has agreed to take on the position of Development Chair on an interim basis.

Some of the information contained in the previous issue of the IH News was incorrect. Cuba won the lst. Men's Americas Cup in Havana (Cuba) last June/July and thus qualified for the 2002 World Cup. I was luckey enough to participate in the tournament. I must say that the Trindad federation did an excellent job of hosting the event. The PAHF should be ashamed of the way they administered the tournament. Firstly the Tournament Director Mr. Chris Waters did not attend the event. The schedule was made by him and it was obvious that no thought had been put into the schedule. There was no semi final, the schedule wasn't distributed until 3 days prior to the tournament. Secondly it was brought to my attention that no medals were forwarded to the tournament organizers. It would have been ashame for the winning teams to go home with no medals. Finally the Pan American Federation should have done a better job of sending delegates there to be seen.
This tournament is a great idea and will go along way in developing hockey in the Americas. The PAHF should look into making this more of an elite tournament so that teams and players that spend their own money to attend will feel like they got their monies worth.
