From the 1st-3rd november the Danish national team participated in the prestigous tournement in Hamburg and did a very good figure. The tournement was the first step for the danish team in their preparations for the Europaen Nations Cup in Zagreb 17th-19th january. "The danish national team are in a build-up proces with many young players coming up so it was a very positive sign for the future to do so well in the VW-Cup" the team manager says.
Denmark got second in their pool which meant they had to play Crefeld in the semifinal. Beating Crefeld 8-6 the succes was fulfilled. In the final Denmark was facing the German indoorchampions from Uhlenhorst. With less than 17 seconds left the danish team had a 5-4 lead but Uhlenhorst managed to score which meant that the final had to go to penaltystoke competition. Here, Uhlenhorst had the most luck and won the trophy.
The results involving the danish team was as follows:
Semifinals:
Crefeld - Denmark : 6-8
Club an der Alster - Uhlenhorst: 7-13
3rd-4th place
Club an der Alster - Crefeld: 10-5
Final
Uhlenhorst - Denmark: 5-5 (8-7 ap)
Next challenge for the national team is the tournement in Clasgow from 10th-12th of january
