DUBAI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is ready to provide all technical support for the promotion of hockey in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
"Our Federation is ready to give any assistance provided UAE Hockey Committee (UAEHC) can create required infrastructure for the game here," said visiting Director PHF Muhammad Shafiq.
Shafiq, who was instrumental in bringing Pakistan Veterans team here for playing three matches against UAE teams last week, said "If UAEHC can manage financial requirements for a hockey ground, all the rest will follow. There is talent as well as players from different parts of the world here. So hockey here will be very competitive and attractive. "During my discussions I've been able to understand that Abdul Rahim, a UAE businessman has agreed to provide required financial assistance for UAEHC," he said. According to Shafiq, Dubai is the best venue for India-Pakistan matches.
On state of Pakistan hockey, Shafiq, who has important role in promotion of domestic hockey said: "Pakistan did lose in some recent tournaments but margin of defeats were just 3-2 or 4-3. Most of the matches were neck to neck especially against top teams like Holland, Australia etc.
