Purpose

To develop the ability to utilize the 1-touch pass with accuracy.

Organization

Set up an area 50 yards long by 30 yards wide. Use the 25 yard line as the center line. On each side of the center line will be 5 players. Each side will organize their team with 2 players high, 1 player in the center and 2 players in the back.
Set up enough courts to accommodate your entire team without using substitutions.
From this point volleyball game rules will apply.

Procedure

Which ever team wins the toss they will begin serving the ball. The serve in hockey/volleyball is either a sweep or drive to the opposite side from behind the back line. Upon service the receiving team may only 1-touch the ball 3 times to 3 different players before they can return service. If a team uses more than 3 passes, 2-touches the ball or the ball goes out of bounds then the serving team will receive a point. A team may only receive points when they are serving.

First team to 15 points wins. You may play first team to win 2 matches or rotate to next court after completion of a single game.

Organize the rotation so the winning team moves forward and a losing team remains at that court.

Coaching Points

Breakdown the skill of the 1-touch pass emphasizing low body positioning, be in balance , firm grip and correct foot preparation. This is an advanced that is essential in give and go play.

Players love this game. It is hard and challenging but fun. Ever player will receive multiple touches with this advanced skill.

Variation

1.) For beginners allow for 2-touch play.
2.) For advanced players the serve must be an aerial over the center line to the opposite side.

Good luck & have fun with it!
