Lithuania may be repreived
If this article reflects the views of FIH then the are about to make even bigger idiots of themselves, than they did so by the original decision of the disciplinary committee to overule the Tournament Director. It is time the FIH made rules and be prepared to abide by these rules.Unless USA are prepared to play India as originally stated in a three match series in India then India should qualify. This is what was stated when USA were excused from playing in the qualifier in Amiens and this should stand.

a solution
The events of September 11 lead to the US team not being able to attend...the FIH gave them the opportunity to qualify by traveling to the seventh place finisher. Then the strokes fiasco...now this new bit of shocking news concerning Lithuania. End this nonsense by admitting India, US, and Lithuania to the WC, otherwise nothing but continued headlines and court proceedings. A one time only expansion by the FIH to resolve a bizarre, unprecendented combination of events.

stop the nonsense
Lithuania management team made the decision for the team when they decided to not go to the round of strokes at the qualifier. Now that is that. The end. The usa are to now play India in India, end of story. End this continous nonsense with admitting 3 teams, this is ridiculous. The final place for the WC will go to either India or the USA, end of story, get on with it!!!!!

CAS decision - Lithuania withdraw
According to the ruling from CAS. They upheld the original decision from the Tournament Director - namely that Lithuania were DEEMED TO HAVE WITHDRAWN FROM THE TOURNAMENT. How can the FIH even entertain the notion that a team who withdrew from a qualifying tournament be allowed to challenge for the last remaining place.
The FIH has lost one appeal. It will probably be faced with a joint appeal from India and the US if they try to push this one forward. Time to bite the bullet and accept the fact that the Lithuanian management brought this on themselves. They had their day in court and lost. Learn from it, dont drag it on.
As for the FIH when you have dug yourself into a hole, stop digging! Let the US play India and lets see who the final spot is filled by.
Another chapter of hockey needs to come to a close and let the next chapter be written at the World Cup.

Chris, you are absolutely right. We are dealing here with a very unique, exceptional situation, where decisions were made (Lithuania - the US team solution) based on emotions, without thinking of the consequences.
Of course the FIH can continue this farce, but I think they would do themselves and everybody else a favour by admitting all 3 countries (just like you suggested) and start evaluating what went wrong.
And just fyi I am German, and therefore completely unbiased in this case.
