PlanetFieldHockey continues its 2001 live tournament coverage with it?s third event of the year ? the USA?s National Collegiate Championship ? the ?Final Four?.

The last four teams standing at the climax of the NCAA season will play off for the National Championship at Kent State University, Ohio, on November 17th to 19th. PlanetFieldHockey and Cranbarry.com will broadcast live text coverage of both semi-finals and the championship game.

If you can?t make the trip to Kent, make the trip to your computer and follow the games with PlanetFieldHockey?s detailed play-by-play commentary.

The Final Four is the premier event in US hockey, showcasing the talents of the country?s up and coming stars as well as a sprinkling of international players who have travelled to study and play at US Colleges.

FINAL FOUR SCHEDULE:
Friday, November 16th:
4:30pm: Semi-Final 1
Princeton vs Michigan
7:00pm: Semi-Final 2
Wake Forest vs Maryland

Sunday, November 18th:
2:00pm: Championship Game

It's about time that field hockey comes out of the closet. Why can't we get the same high profile as women soccer, softball, and even women's ice hockey. Let's get the right people in USFHA who can take this sport to the top of the list instead of the bottom of the closet. This boardcast is a good start but we need to demand more of the so-called hockey leaders in this country and around the world.

It gets dark around 5:30, so it will probably dip to the low 50's, maybe upper 40's by 8:30. This could be much worse, though.

kent ohio is on the same latitude as NYC...same weather just a day earlier. (same time zone too!) Kent Stadium is one of the best field hockey venues in the US. Check it out for yourself!

Field Hockey in the Snow...
To all of you who think it'll be too cold at the Final Four.... there's a really nice picture at the following address:
http://www.obo.co.nz/gallery/images/img_0256_s.jpg

Check it out, if you've ever wondered what field hockey in the snow would look like, it was taken at a CIS (that's Canadian Interuniversity Sport) Field Hockey tournament, on October 5 of this year in Winnipeg, Canada
You'll realize that it could be a lot worse...

Re: PGK
I will be the broadcaster for the play-by-play. I played DIV I hockey for American University, then spent one year in England playing hockey for the Old Loughtonians, then worked as an assistant coach for the Georgetown University field hockey team for the fall 2001 season. I have also been involved with PlanetFieldHockey for about 1 year and I am responsible for the NCAA section of the site (kudos to Hari for his work on the NCAA tournament coverage on the site -- I can't take credit for that!). I will do my very best with the broadcast. I hope you enjoy it!

Fieldhockey is comprised of more than players. Officials (umps/staff) are an interfral part of the sport and deserve recognition

The weather for the Final 4 weekend will be no better or worse than the weather of October 24, 25, 26 and 27 of 2001. If you can't handle the weather which is still part of the game, play an indoor sport. Thanks for what Planet Field Hockey is doing to promote the game. Do think you could list the umpires for the finals? Thanks
