Guildford?s Nick Taylor is among a crop of six new recruits who have been called into the senior England international mens ranks for 2001.
Taylor creates a third goalkeeping option for the next England coach, taking his place in the squad alongside Reading?s Simon Mason and Canterbury?s Simon Triggs.
Cannock?s Martin Jones, Southgate?s Jon Peckett, Reading?s Rob Todd, Canterbury?s Richard Mantell and Danny Haydon of Teddington join Taylor in the senior international squad.
A selection panel, led by England performance director Chris Spice, including Spice?s deputy Mike Hamilton, Malcolm Wood and Dave Vinson selected the squad.
Former coach Barry Dancer - who quit England to take up the head coach role with the Australian men last November - was consulted during the selection process but was not involved in the final decisions.
Spice said that the decision to announce the squad should not present a problem to the next England coach. An announcement is expected in February about the vacancy that was left following Dancer?s departure.
Spice said: ?This group of athletes represents a ?core? senior squad. It is smaller in number than previous years in order to provide flexibility to the new England coach.?
