LAHORE, Sept 27: Former Pakistan hockey coach Shahbaz Ahmad has been invited for the national training camp which starts here from Oct 3.
The striker, who was appointed coach along with Hanif Khan and Khawaja Junaid earlier this year, has been asked to prove his worth and is now preparing for a possible comeback into the team as a player.
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has called up 30 probables to select an 18-member squad for the Champions Trophy after the two-day trials on Oct 10 and 11.
The 23rd Champions Trophy, which was to be hosted by Lahore from Nov 3 to 11, has been shifted to an undecided venue due to the tension in the region.
Probables:
Goalkeepers: Mohammad Qasim, Salman Akbar
Right full-backs: Sohail Abbas, Ali Raza, Asim Chohan.
Left full-backs: Tariq Imran, Zeeshan Ashraf
Right-halves: Mohammad Usman, Irfan Yousuf, Ghazanfar Ali
Centre-halves: Mohammad Saqlain, Imran Yousuf, Imran Rasool
Left-halves: Mohammad Waseem, Dilawar Hussain
Right-outs: Mohammad Nadeem, Mohammad Irfan, Rehan Butt

Karachi desk adds: The camp for 25 goalkeepers will be held in Lahore from Oct 5 to pick five to six custodians to be later inducted into the national training camp.
Among the short-listed goalkeepers, few would be vying for a spot in the team after the retirement of former skipper Ahmad Alam while others would be for the future needs, a PHF official said.
At the moment, Mohammad Qasim and Salman Akbar, are available for the job under the bar. The pool of the `keepers will be shorlisted by former Pakistan goalkeeper, Shahid Ali Khan.
