LAHORE, Sept 4: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Tuesday invited 13 former umpires to attend a national umpire's manager course starting here from Sept 29.
The two-day brief activity is aimed at imparting latest technical know-how to ex-umpires to become umpires manager, said Brig Musarratullah Khan, secretary of the PHF.
He said the International Hockey Federation (FIH) has nominated Dutch expert Peter Von Reth to supervise this useful activity.
Mursarrat said unfortunately none of Pakistan's hockey experts were on the panel of the FIH as umpires manager and that was the reason that during the last 12 months and in 11 international tournaments in Asia, nobody from Pakistan represented during these events.
"Most of the hockey playing countries have a reasonable representation at the FIH forum as umpires and umpires manager but we lack in both departments due to the absence of qualified experts," he said.
Those invited are: S.A. Baghdadi, Rashid Ali Khan, Khizar Nawaz Bajwa, Rasheed Mahmood Butt, Siddique Ali Shah, Younis Siddique, Dr Khalil Ahmad, Mohammad Iqbal Bali, Rana Zafarullah, Saeed Ahmad, Sheikh Abdul Majeed, Lateef Ghaznavi and T.J. Shariq.-
