Everest Hikers senior, junior and ladies hockey teams all recorded
victories on the second night of the Flora Margarine sponsored-Guyana
Hockey Board of Control organised, Indoor Six-A-Side Hockey Tournament,
yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

In the feature game, Everest Hikers seniors, edged GCC in a thriller
that saw the winners converting the winning goal, two seconds before the
buzzer sounded the end of play.

For Hikers, Jermaine Lewis netted a double while Brian Asregado found
the net once. Devin Hooper and Alan Fernandes were GCC's goal scorers.
Hikers seniors also edged Vikings 1-0 with the winning goal coming off
the stick of Timothy McIntosh, while their junior boys team (under-17)
defeated their GCC counterparts 2-0 through goals from Andel David and
Shane Samuels.

In the ladies competition, Everest Thugs `B' played to 0-0 draw with Old
Fort and edged Western Dragons 1-0.

In the feature game, Everest went ahead in the first session through a
short corner. The ball was pushed by Mark King to Timothy Jonas who
squared it to Devin Munroe. Munroe however made a fake move, allowing
the ball to make its way to Asregado who converted. The session ended
1-0.
In the second period, Jerry Bell dribbled the ball down the side line
and passed it off to Lewis who had no problem finding his target and
goal number one.
The Everest team were however given a scare soon after by the Bourda
boys who drew level from two scrimmages in the `D'. Hooper converted his
team's first goal and Fernandes the equaliser.
As the minutes ticked away leaving two seconds on the clock, McIntosh
made a pass to Lewis who was at the top of the `D', Lewis made a neat
stop and flicked the ball between the uprights.
In other results, Vikings also went down to Old Fort who won by a 4-1
margin. Former national striker Gavin Hope led the way with a double
while Ivor Thompson and Askofu Simon scored one goal each. Troy Peters,
the former president of the Guyana Hockey Board of Control and a former
national defence player, pulled one back for Vikings.
In the other ladies competition result, Old Fort and GCC played to a 1-1
draw.
