THREE sisters are among 20 female hockey players shortlisted to continue preparing for a Goodwill series involving Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago and Bermuda in August in the Twin Island Republic.

These players are the Sutherland sisters - Sonia, Carolyn and Urica, Thi Fernandes, Tricia Fiedktou, La Toya Fordyce, Michelle Moore, Amalya Clarke, Aisha Belgrave, Amande Lowe, Wendy Boodhoo, Sarah Sylvester, Esther Ward, Jessica Xavier, Melissa Rodrigues, Marisha Rodrigues, Rochelle Bell, Maria Atkinson and Yohance Alexander.

The squad went into training about a month ago with 35 players. The present number may be broken down to 16 if enough funds are not available to take all 20 players on the tour.

Training continues at the National Gymnasium because of the inclement weather.

RYI surfaces
RYI always surfaces whenever there are ladies around. I think a visit back home is however overdue.

Most of our ladies are new to the game as this is part of a revival effort. Regardless of what the outcome is in T&T, this trip has generated significant interest, excitment and comradery among our ladies. This yearend we are having the GT&T Indoor Championships and will be inviting a few teams down from T&T and Barbados. I am hoping that a ladies team or two would be interested as well. That may even provide the necessary encouragement for RYI to return home :-)

Dunno Rev..he might have his hands full at the moment, and as we know a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bushes.
Looking forward to playing with yall at Banks!
Great to hear that our hockey is making some steps forward, hope that GT will be able to send a team to participate at the proposed International Indoor Tournament in NY, this will certainly help expose our younger players to a higher level.

You said it Rev. when the girls are around I'll surface.
If I get to play with all the girls, I'll be there tom. :)
Actually, I'm in the process of coercing more girls to come out and play some hockey in the Desert. Our club is growing pretty well. Couple weekends I saw Shiv and he promised to come out when he returns from the World Cup qualifier.
I'll try my best to return home year end. However, our Phoenix team is planning on going to Banks tourney next year.
Keep the good work up Rev.
