General Assembly
The 17th EHF General Assembly was held in Brussels, Belgium on April 20 with a record attendance. No less than 37 Federations were represented. Apologies were received from Armenia, Norway and Moldova.
The following members were elected for four years: -

The EHF Executive Board for the next two years is as follows: President: Alain Danet (FRA). Vice-Presidents: Claire Peeters-Monseu (BEL), Leandro Negre (ESP). Hon. General Secretary: R. David Balbirnie (IRL). Hon. Treasurer: Morley Pecker (ENG). Ordinary Members: Jorge Alcover (ESP), Martin Gotheridge (ENG), Alistair W. Gray (SCO), Marianne Kooijman-Bernard (NED), Sergio Melai (ITA), Monika Spork (GER), Jan Vymazal (CZE).
The 18th General Assembly of the EHF will be held in Barcelona (Spain) in September 2003.
Calzado honoured
Juan-Angel Calzado, the outgoing president of the FIH, received the award of EHF Member of Honour.
Committee reports
Committee reports were made as follows: Indoor - Monika Spork (Chairman) and Martin Campbell (Secretary). Competitions - Martin Gotheridge (Chairman), Martyn Gallivan (Club Secretary) and Douglas Grey (Youth Secretary). Sponsorship/Marketing/Promotion, -Leandro Negre (Chairman) and David Collier (Member). Appointments - Jorge Alcover (Chairman). Development - Claire Peeters Monseu (Chairman). These were followed by a very enthusiastic presentation on the Year of the Youth in Europe by David Agius and Rita Keverling-Buisman-Rentjes.
Martin Colomer, President of the Real Federacion Espanola de Hockey, informed on behalf of the Organising Committee of the AstroTurf European Nations Cup 2003 which is to be held in Barcelona.
Finally Wil Ditzel, General Manager, AstroTurf European Operations, reported on the latest technologies for his company’s various products.
Earlier indoor
For the year 2002 only, the EHF Indoor Committee has agreed to re-schedule the men’s A division of the European Indoor Club Championship.
This decision has been taken following requests from a number of member associations who will be participating in the FIH 10th World Cup in Malaysia in March 2002.
The event which is to take place in Terrassa, Spain, will now be held on 25/27 January 2002 instead of in mid-February.
The 2002 Women’s A division will be played in Hamburg, Germany (February 22-24).
