Indian women's hockey team triumphs

India's men's hockey team may be down in the dumps but their women counterparts are faring better.

The Indian eves won a four-nation tournament in Singapore, outclassing South Korea in the final 3-0.

Sanggai Chanu starred for the team, scoring a brace through field goals, while Mamta Kharab netted one in the title clash on Sunday.

En route the final, India drew with Malaysia 3-3 after beating hosts Singapore 2-0 in their opener, an Indian Women's Hockey Federation statement said on Wednesday.

The team's next assignment is the Indira Gandhi Gold Cup invitational tournament, beginning September 29.

`well done indian women's team.what we need is more exposure trips to physically stronger teams like england,germany,holland,NZ,Australia and then we will be able to improve more.Congrats once again.`

`Congrats to India.... Congrats to india on ur victory.......... Though i haven't seen any of the matches but being a true hockey fan, i hope they'd have put up a good show of asian style hockey there............. Asian style hockey rocks....aggressive,action, thrill that is not the part of european hockey.`

`From Singapore I saw all the matches played. India fieled its II string team, Singapore and malaysia fielded their best available team. Korea fieled their thier u-19 team. Overall india played better hockey than others. Their PC converiosn was good. Their defence also looked good. Best of luck for Indira gandhi Cup`
