The Malaysian development team let slip a three-goal lead and were lucky to come away with a 4-4 draw against Hong Kong in the Singapore Four-nation meet at the Delta Hockey Stadium yesterday.

Hong Kong led 1-0 through Arif Ali's goal in the third minute but Malaysia stormed back and was leading 4-1 by the 59th minute.

But a lapse of concentration in the last ten minutes allowed Hong Kong to charge back and made it 4-4.

Mohamed Nor Hisham Khamis scored the equaliser to make it 1-1 in the 23rd minute for Malaysia. Zulkifli Rejab scored from a penalty corner flick for a 2-1 scoreline.

Mohamed Fairuz Hamsani increase the lead two minutes later and Ahmad Annuar Sham added the fourth goal in the 59th minute to make it 4-1.

Asghar Ali reduced the deficit for Hong Kong in the 60th minute. Then Swalikh Mohamed scored another goal in the 65th minute before Asghar slammed in a penalty corner in the 70th minute to finish the game at 4-4.

The Malaysians have four points after two matches and lead the standings. They beat South Korea 3-1 on Thursday. For Hong Kong it was their second drawn game. The played to a 1-1 draw with Singapore on Thursday.

The tournament ends today with the Malaysians playing Singapore and Hong Kong taking on the South Korea.

Malaysia will emerge champions if they beat Singapore in the 7pm match.
