A meeting of the Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) advisory board will be held under the chairmanship of its president Tariq Kirmani at the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) head office on Saturday (today).
It is the second meeting of the 10-member advisory board which was formed by the PHF president earlier this year. The main agenda will be to review the poor performance of the Pakistan in the Junior World Cup held in July in Rotterdam.
Manager Mohammed Shafiq and junior team coach Tahir Zaman will present their point of view during the meeting. The advisory board consists of former Olympian Manzoor Hussain Atif, Samiullah, Khawaja Zakauddin, Khalid Mehmood, Sindh Sports Minister Qamar Mansoor, Balochistan’s Sports Minister Younus Changezi, technocrats Nayyar Hasnain, Babar Ali, Mansoor Mehmood Khan and Huma Ahmad.
Besides reviewing the performance of junior hockey team, the board will also discuss the induction of some new faces in the national selection committee headed by former Olympian Akhtar Rasool. The names of Olympians Manzoor Junior, Nasir Ali and Waseem Feroze are under consideration in this regard. The board will also give approval for the organisation of the Inter District and Inter Provincial Hockey Championships to be played in November.
