The Australian women's hockey co-captain Nikki Hudson says she is relishing her role as a veteran in the new look Hockeyroos' squad.

Australia impressed in this month's six-test series against Korea which wound up at Labrador on the Gold Coast yesterday.

The Hockeyroos won 4-2.

The squad has lost several senior players from last year's Olympic campaign, and Hudson says she has an important role to play in the lead-up to Beijing in 2008.

"The veteran, that's the word I'm getting used to now, but I think this is my 13th year, so I think I'm the eldest and one of the most experienced in the team," she said.

"I also want to keep playing for hopefully another seven years and another two Olympic campaigns, so as long as the body holds up and the desire, there's no reason why I can't."

good to see you back scoring goals motty - good luck with the Captaincy - know you will
handle it with ease as you do not have to work hard at being a nice person - really does come naturally - remember the days when you used to captain my team - you led by example but there was still a lot of fun to be had!! used to make your mum despair though - once again good luck and am sure you will attain your goals.
