England finished bottom of their pool at the Rabobank Trophy in Holland after being hammered 6-2 by Olympic champions Australia.

Matthew Wells put Australia ahead just before half-time but Old Loughtonians' Richard Alexander equalised three minutes after the interval, drilling home a shot from the edge of the circle.

However, the Kookaburras quickly put the match beyond reach as Jamie Dwyer, Grant Schubert and Ben Bishop all scored in an 11-minute period to make it 4-1.

Surbiton's Rob Moore pulled one back with 10 minutes to go but Luke Doerner and Matthew Naylor extended Australia's winning margin in the last four minutes.

England will play either India or Pakistan for seventh place on Saturday.
