England opened their European Nations Championships in Dublin with a 4-0 victory over Ukraine, with captain Kate Walsh scoring twice.

The former Slough defender put her side ahead from a ninth-minute penalty corner and Bowdon Hightown player-coach Tina Cullen extended the advantage after 20 minutes.

Olton & West Warwick's Lucilla Wright added a third moments later and Walsh wrapped up victory with her second set-piece just before half-time.

Coach Danny Kerry said: "I'm satisfied we did the job early and felt we were never under any pressure in any aspect of the game.

"We played well in the first half and in the second half it was too frenetic and we never made the most of our possession."

Scotland, who are in England's group, were beaten 5-0 by Olympic gold medallists Germany.
