The Australian women's hockey team defeated South Korea 2-1 in Adelaide last night to go 2-0 up in their six-match Test series.
The Hockeyroos began nervously and the Koreans took advantage through Kim Mi Seon, who found the net after just five minutes.
The visitors maintained their attack and would have extended their lead if not for the efforts of Australian goalkeeper DeAnee Gilbert, who made a number of valuable saves.
The Hockeyroos regrouped and hit back with a goal to Sian Smithson in the 27th minute. Nikki Hudson was instrumental in the goal, weaving her way through the Korean defence to find Smithson in the circle.
The Australians maintained their enthusiasm after the half-time break, peppering the goals and stretching the Korean defence.
Brilliant work from Hudson finally broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, the Australian launching herself, mid-air, to hit a reverse flick past the Korean keeper.
In the end, Hudson's goal proved enough for the Hockeyroos to win the match, though the Koreans had several scoring chances in the dying stages.
Hockeyroos coach Frank Murray said he was pleased with his side's performance.
"I thought tonight's performance was much better than last night's," he said.
"They play at such a quick pace, we got caught up in that. We were trying to do too much, trying too hard. They scored that goal but once we settled down it was much better."
The Hockeyroos won the opening match of the series 3-2.
