England's men beat Scotland 2-0 in Edinburgh as both sides began their final preparations for the European Nations Championship in Germany.
Barry Middleton opened the scoring with a 22nd-minute penalty corner and Ben Hawes extended the lead six minutes after half-time.

England manager Peter Nicholson said: "We had the better of the chances but need to improve on sharpness."

The two sides meet again at Peffermill on Sunday.

nepotism
Did I read this correctly, Peter Nicholson was the Enland team manager, "what a joke" I nearly fell of my desk chair laughing. Everyone take note as to what can happen when you fail with the U21's as long as your mates run english hockey.
This is the sort of nepotism we have all come to accept from the self appointed hierarche in the running of English hockey. "another job for one of the boys"

Its now becoming a laugh a minute with every appointment endorsed by the bosses at head quarters. I honestly thought that Peter Nicholson after watching the display in Holland wouldn't get near another England team, but he has his mates in high places as does the performance director. What chance have we really got if we continue to employ people who are not upto the job and never have been & never will be.

Manager
Where I come from the International Manager was responsible for washing, food, transport and talking to the media when the coach didn't want to !! They were never consulted about hockey tactics.....maybe it is a punishment !!
