Canada deserved a significant win today, but in the end had to settle for a draw as a result of some seemingly harsh umpiring decisions. Canada started slowly and in the 3rd minute Belgium won a penalty corner, however Canada defended well and Belgium were not able to get a shot on goal.

Canada now picked up the pace and in the 7th minute came close following a hard cross from the right from Rob Short set up Wayne Fernandes, however the Belgium keeper made a good pad save but the rebound could not be put away.Five minutes later Dave Jameson went very close with a neat deflection.

Canada again went close in the 16th minute when a Wayne Fernandes cross found a diving Philip Wright but the ball went just over the bar. A minute later Canada got their reward for their early pressure when Anthony Wright was brought down while shooting and Wayne Fernandes converted the penalty stroke.

Canada continued to apply pressure and Dave Jameson again went close following a good run by Marian Schole.Belgium won a second penalty corner in the 27th minute following a high clearance by Mike Mahood, however Mike then made an excellent diving save low to his right.Belgium started to apply more pressure however it was Canada that scored in the 30th minute when Connor Grimes dived at the far post to deflect in a Rob Short long corner hit. Canada ended the half with a well deserved two goal lead.

Belgium started the second half strongly and in the 41st minute scored from a well taken penalty corner drag flick. Four minutes later Canada won their only penalty corner of the game following good work by Michael Lee.The switch option failed.

In the 47th minute Belgium were awarded a penalty corner, Mike Mahood made two excellent saves and the initial danger was cleared but Belgium came straight back into the circle on the right and scored a well taken goal. Ken Pereira made a great run at the Belgium defence in the 52nd minute and two minutes later made a good cross that Conner Grimes just failed to reach. Canada then received two yellow cards within the space of six minutes (Tupper and Sandison) and Canada were forced to defend with only nine players for several minutes. Still with only ten players Canada scored, Dave Jameson dived to deflect in a Rob Short pass following a great run and cut in by him. Four minutes later Belgium equalized again following a hard hit into the circle from the right. Canada claimed the deflection had come off Anthony Wright's stick but the goal was awarded.

Belgium were awarded their fifth penalty corner in the last minute of play but could not convert the final chance of the game. The tour ended on a high note as Canada had played an excellent game and this Team, with a great blend of youth and experience, is slowing a lot of potential for the future.
