The Black Sticks men's hockey team have held the Netherlands to a goalless draw in the final match of their European hockey tour.

New Zealand failed to capitalise on a number of penalty corner opportunities after a strong defensive effort held the Dutch at bay.

Coach Kevin Towns says he is very happy with the defence as they have conceded a number of goals on the tour.

Towns says it is good to see the defenders bounce back and keep a clean sheet.

The Black Sticks now head home for the national league before preparations begin for the Oceania series in November.

Good stuff :)
I think what he was saying is that he was happy with the defence's performance against the Dutch because they kept a clean sheet, something which they haven't done all tour against france and belgium :) It's good stuff and hopefully they can keep it up.

Well done against Holland boys.

FLUKE??? Were you even at the game. If you were, you would have seen the number of chances NZ had. IF anything was a fluke, it was the Dutch getting away without conceding a goal.

NZ had a 9-1 PC count in there favour but could not capitalise on any of them. The Dutch had a couple of early chances that they should of put away and NZ probably should've been awarded a stroke in the second half as well.

Anyway, it was a good game and both teams had a number of chances to score.
