The Irish men's hockey team drew 1-1 with Wales in their first game at the Celtic Cup. The Irish goal was scored after 6 mins after excellent work by Phelie Maguite finished off by Mark Irwin.

Irish Coach Passmore was happy with his teams performance despite Wales equalising in the final five minutes from a short corner routine.

The short corner count was 7-2 in favour of Ireland. Steven Redpath came on to win his first cap
