Rhona Simpson, veteran of two Olympic Games, who already has 155 Scotland caps, comes out of a premature retirement to boost the chances of Scotland's women in this weekend's Celtic Cup campaign at Peffermill.

At the same time, the young pretender, 20-year-old Holly Cram, has been called up from the U21 squad, a reward for her outstanding performances in the past few weeks since coming to the attention of the national coach, Lesley Hobley.

It is the first time the senior Celtic Cup will have been staged (along with the men's equivalent) in Scotland. The three-day annual event is a four-nations tournament with France, Ireland and Wales, and this year is a major prelude to the four-yearly European Nations Cups.

Holly Cram????? - has done well to improve over last 12 months, but why is she making press releases? She is not that good and will really struggle against international opposition. There is no way she can impact against the likes of England, Germany, Holland etcetc! Think Scots will struggle to score this week against likes of Wales and Ireland if that's their strike force?!!!!!

What happened to Bunce and Clarke or Clements? Assuming that Clements will be playing midfield, Scotland could finish last??! Rumour has it that one of the 21s injured Bunce last week in a friendly match against the seniors after beating half the defence? and surely Clarke should be playing after her Euro Bronze with Hightown?

One comment, good luck the Scots because from where I am sitting down here, we are laughing at you!

Aimee is out with a back injury. I think theres an article on the shu website. An as for cram, well done to her. she seems to have done well so far and issue should lie with the selectors not with the selected!!

Vicky Bunce went over on her ankle in the circle just before taking a shot a goal. if there was contact it was Vicky who stepped on a stick. there was no malice and no issues.
are you trying to provoke something? perhaps you'd be best to not listen to rumours in future.
Holly is making a press release because it is something new (ie news). She's taken her chances (scoring twice this weekend!) and we should be supporting her and the team.

go away.

Well done Simmy
Great to see you back Simmy. Looking fitter and faster than ever.

Good for younger players to have such and experienced striker in the team too

Sorry, but were you watching these games?

Friday - very average against France, lucky result in the end.

Wales v Scotland - Holly Cram - 2 goals, should have been 6 at least (not having a personal attack on Holly!). Lack of opportunity to finish on Sunday against Ireland . I think Scotland need to get that bloody defence sorted as well.

I hope for Scotland's sake that the attacking line will be Simpson, Clements and Bunce (I hear she's playing this week against Belgium?) in Dublin. Clements is not at her best in midfield, get her upfront! If it was good enough for Great Britain in the Olympic squad it should be good enough for Scotland! For those who have not witnessed these three in action, it is a pure joy to watch them read each other beautifully!!!!
