The South Africa women's hockey team have won silver at the 2005 Rabobank Champions Challenge Tournament after losing to New Zealand in the final.

New Zealand scored twice in the second half to close the chapter on the 2005 Champions Challenge tournament and earn a berth in next year's Champion's Trophy tournament.

In the other finals on the last day of the tournament, Japan came from 1-0 down to win bronze with a 2-1 victory over England.

The home nation, USA, beat Spain 5-3 after a half-time score of 2-2.

1. New Zealand

2. South Africa

3. Japan

4. England

5. USA

6. Spain
