NZ men's hockey team disappointed at losing to France 2-1 in opening test of Black Sticks' European campaign

Disappointment for the New Zealand men's hockey team's with a loss to France in the opening test of their European campaign in Bourges in France.

The Black Sticks have gone down 2-1.

Ben Collier scored the kiwis' sole goal.

Coach Kevin Towns says they could not convert early.

The team has had problems with a lack of water on the pitch which has left it with excessive bounce.

Kevin Towns says the surface is not up to scratch due to some poor planning.

Why when a anglo saxon team loose they always have excuse. The pitch was the same for the both team
