In a game that bore little consequence to the tournament result, England beat South Africa 3-0 in the Champions Challenge on Friday at Virginia Beach, California.
England's relentless pressure on the South African defence saw them scoring a penalty from a straight shot from Mel Clewlow to end the first half 1-0. The second half again had South Africa on the run and England were able to convert two further field goals to take the game 3-0 South Africa's coach, Jenny King said afterwards that England deserved the win on the day.
"The team will not be disheartened and we will be on the top of our game for the final tomorrow," she added.
The South African team, who rested some key players against England, can now focus on the final against New Zealand on Saturday (Sunday 3am SA time).
In another match, New Zealand beat Japan 2-1.
