England just missed out on a place in the women's Champions Challenge final at Virginia Beach, despite a 3-0 win over previously unbeaten South Africa.

Mel Clewlow drilled home a 14th-minute penalty corner before Helen Grant scored twice after the break.

But New Zealand advanced to the final against South Africa based on 4-3 goal difference over England, who had an identical 3-1-1 tournament record.

England now face Japan, who lost 2-1 to New Zealand, for the bronze medal.
