The Black Sticks women's hockey team has survived intense heat to make the final of the Champions' Challenge. New Zealand beat Japan 2-1 in their final round robin match at Virginia Beach in the United States and will face South Africa in tomorrow's final.

England needed to beat South Africa by 4 goals today to knock New Zealand out of the top 2, but managed only a 3-nil win.

Black Sticks' coach Ian Rutledge says his side handled the scorching sun better than the Japanese. He's very happy with his side's fitness but he says South Africa will be a tough challenge in the final - at 1pm Sunday New Zealand time.
