Scotland continued their good run of form at the European Youth Championships in Lithuania, brushing Wales aside with ease.

Aisling Coyle opened the scoring for the Scots after two minutes, then a direct strike by Nikki Kidd from a penalty corner put them two up, and the result was virtually sealed just before the break when Amy Rowan volleyed home.
Further goals came from Coyle and Katie Connor. Then right on time, captain Kareena Marshall finished off the Welsh with a direct strike from a penalty corner.
In Poland, Scotland's men were 3-1 down against Ireland but the Scots kept battling and scored a goal through Michael Christie. A chance to equalise came with an overtime penalty corner, but Kenny Bain's effort was well saved by the Irish goalkeeper.

I know this is off thread topic but ..... can someone at Western Wildcats change the description under their name in the links section of this website. You are no longer the "current champions of Scotland". That would be Kelburne.

a wee story
Once upon a time there was this most awsome group of girls, led by an awsome management team. They set off on a European adventure for the far reaches of lithuania! Anxious and nervous none of them had ever been on such a trip before, but in true Scots style they battered on and played with their hearts and of course their heads!

With the "best left back in the tournament" and the best defence in the WORLD (:P) supporting the team, there was very little chance for the opposition to do much damage. So then it was the role of our outstanding midfielders and inspirational strikers to break down the wall and fire home all sorts of devastating goals!! (I'll just add here we had the two top goal scorers of the tourney!)

No matter what torturous experiences (ice baths, sun stroke, hefty opponents!!!) we had to go through we proved we were HARD AS NAILS!!!! GRRRRRR!!! That determination reaped the reward at the end of the adventure coz "WE ARE GOLD!!! GOLD!! ALWAYS BELIEVE IN!!"

So we all came home, a little bit browner, (well pink in some cases), a little bit bruised, but so happy we didnt even care. Everybody lived happily ever after accept of course the immigrant who cant read books, shes still in the dutch jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

THE END!

I'd like to thank everyone of the girls who were part of the team they made this trip absolutely AWSOME! And without Shiona, Big Shak, Lottie and Barbie it just wouldnt have been the same.

What happened to Amy, Kimi and Sarah then? Seems a stange time to be dumped they haven't had their trial! So does that mean they don't get a chance to show the U21 coaches what they can do? Or has it already been decided for them? I smell a rat!

politics
u 21 selection certainly has nothing to do with U18 management team. Everyone knew who was selected long before Europeans. Emily was named as best Scottish player of the tournement and didn't get a trial either!

re: Z & politics
The three girls mentioned were unaware that they had been "dropped" until they came back from Lithuania and were told via email. So Mr Deans and the U18 management team must have had something to do with it! The U21 coaches had identified the players they wanted and the three girls mentioned were part of their plans. Mr Deans wouldn't know Sarah or Kimi if he bumped into them and he was certainly unaware of what these two players are capable of coz they weren't given the chance. politics involved for sure feel sorry for the girls, the U21 coaches and Emily who is a fantastic player who seems to get overlooked.

re: politics
Who is Mr Brent Deans anyway! Was he out in Lithuania with the U18 girls?
Politics?
Everyone knows Lizzie has "her" favourites and that she would be pushing them to the front. Seems to me from the results that she over-played her "stars" to the point they were exhausted for the last game and lost it to a team that came 5th! Was there only 11 players out there?

re: ZZ top
Brent Deans is the performance director for Scottish Hockey and yes, he was in Lithuania with the girls. As for your comments that Lizzie has "favourites"!! Itz ridiculous. And of course the players were tired after the tournament- playing 5 games of international hockey in 6 days is bound to be tiring.

Hey player keep yer knickers on!
I know fine well who Mr Deans is! Didn't know he had taken a trip to Lithuania though!
As for your comment about the players being tired after the tournament.........I wasn't talking about "after" I was commenting on the game they lost. I would love to hear what excuse you can come up with to justify losing to a team that were placed second last in the tournament. After all they had also played the same amount of games as the Scottish girls, were they not tired as well.

possibility???
perhaps the girls are just not mature enough to be playing at the higher level, knowing one or two who didnt make it this could be a possibility!! their talent is unquestionable as they wouldnt of been up for contension for trials if they were not capable!! the girls still have years ahead of them to play!

good luck to the young ones who have been given trials

please shut up they lost their last game because it simply didnt happen for them, no one was exhausted was just one those games.I know one of the reasons most of the girls were upset after the czech game was because it was obvious thats idiots would be on here questioning their ability because they had lost a game. Lay off as u clearly werent there so u cant comment fairly on how players played in tournament circumstances eg,heat, pressure, etc or exactly why they lost their last game.

Thank you for that! You have made everything clear to me. You are a font of information and knowledge! In actual fact and for the record I wasn't having a go at the players, I was aiming a bit higher than that! Must of missed.

Lizzie does, undoubtedly, have her favourites- that cannot be debated! Whether or not that impacted on U21s trials or who was playing too much or too little i don't know.
