Two goals by Lizzy Igasan initiate New Zealand’s second victory of the tournament and let them jump on top of the standings.

Igasan scored her first goal in this tournament after 16 minutes by a penalty corner and added another one in the 29th minute. Spain could rarely enter the NZL circle, while New Zealand had some good chances during the first half. It was Captain Suzie Muirhead scoring the last goal of this match in the second half by another penalty corner. For Spain this 0-3 rout is the second straight defeat after yesterday’s against South Africa.

While Spain will have to recover quickly to look forward to their match on Tuesday against England, New Zealand will have time to reflect with a day off tomorrow.

Japan keep the USA winless but not chanceless at the Rabobank Champions Challenge.

It was because of USA goalkeeper Amy Tran, that Japan could only took the lead after 25 minutes, with a field goal scored by Kaori Chiba. Japan had a lot of good chances before, but Tran kept her team in the game.

Just three minutes later USA tied the game up. Kristen Holmes-Winn’s free hit at the Japanese circle found Tiffany Snow who just pushed it into Terazono’s goal.

The one all score at halftime was a lucky for the USA but not unfair. The US Team worked hard during the whole match and Japan just didn’t use their chances.

In the second half Japan started again aggressively and it was Komori at the 56th and 66th minute perfecting Japan’s second victory.

The USA has now a day off on Tuesday to assemble all their power in order to win their first point on Wednesday.

The tournament continues on Tuesday with England against Spain at 18:00 followed by South Africa versus Japan at 20:00.
