THE Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary, is the venue for tomorrow's National Bank of Industry and Commerce (NBIC)-sponsored first division hockey competition.
Set to begin at 10:00 hrs, the annual tournament will see GCC defending the men's 11-a-side title and Everest Thugs, the ladies' seven-a-side crown.
Seeking to dethrone GCC will be Old Fort, Police, Everest Hikers and Western Dragons while GCC, Western Dragons, Old Fort and YMCA will try to topple Everest Thugs.
Meanwhile, GCC emerged victorious in a second division men's tournament held last Sunday at the same venue.
They triumphed on a better goal difference from Police and Old Fort after all three teams ended with a win, a loss and a draw each. GCC however, had a goal average of plus four, while Police had a minus one average, and Old Fort a minus four. The other team in the competition, Everest Hikers, drew all three of the matches.
A ladies' exhibition match between GCC and an Everest/YMCA combination ended in 1-0 victory for the combined team with the winning goal coming off the stick of Esther Ward.
