England lost 5-3 to South Korea at the Junior World Cup in Rotterdam but their single first-round victory on Thursday ensured they progressed to the second phase.
Trailing 1-0, two goals in as many minutes from Reading's Simon Mantell and another from Peter Flanagan put them 3-2 up at half-time.
However, the Koreans hit back in the later stages of the second half, scoring twice in the last six minutes to give the scoreline an unbalanced look.
England now play hosts Holland tomorrow with Egypt and India to follow next week.
