The renewed title is as far as that goes amazing because lots of experienced players left the team before the season. But the young team convinced and so much higher is this title to rate.

At this weekend, 25th and 26th of june, the Swiss Cup final 2005 took place in Olten. Once again Rotweiss Wettingen was the big winner. After the championship title the men as well as the women team also won the cup title.
After two clear victories in the semi-finals the day before, the men cup final on Sunday between Rotweiss Wettingen and the locals, HC Olten, was a fighting game. Both teams made a dramatic and exciting game in tropical temperature. The aggressive HC Olten failed because of their inability and in front of the keeper from Rotweiss, Patrick Egloff, who often kept his team in the game. At the 46th minute the lead for Rotweiss Wettingen by Reto Spörri 1 : 0. Three minutes before the end Andy Benz sealed with the second goal the defeat for the HC Olten. At the end Rotweiss Wettingen won in an outstanding game happily with 2 : 0 and got the fifth Swiss cup in a row. 400 spectators gave this thrilling game a great scale.
Also the women played very well in their cup final. The women of Rotweiss Wettingen went as favourite in the game because of their high scores in the semi- and quarter-finals (they both games won with 10 : 0!). Their opponents in the final, the women of HC Olten, had much more difficulties in their semi-final against the Luzerner SC and only won it in overtime with a golden goal. But because of the lively playing HC Olten the final was very exciting and both teams fought in the big heat for the victory. After 20 minutes the lead for Rotweiss by Alexandra Wälti 1 : 0. In the second half the HC Olten pressed the goal of Rotweiss nearly without a break. The last minutes of the game were extremely hectically. But the locals, the HC Olten, didn’t succeed in front of the many spectators who cheered out loudly for their team. The women of Rotweiss Wettingen finally won narrowly with 1 : 0. This is their fourth cup title in a row.
Preview men national team
The Swiss men national team will take part at the World Games (indoor championship) from 22.-24.07.05 in Duisburg. Besides the fieldhockey team, the Swiss team isn’t able to set a complete second indoor team, like for example Germany. That’s why the same players play outdoor as well as indoor hockey. The Swiss national trainer, Jens Lüninghöhner comment on this solution: “We want to send an achievement-oriented team to Duisburg. The ones will be playing there who are interested and excited about being a part of this great event. But our main goal still is the European Nations Trophy from 11.-18.09.05 in Rome. There we seriously want to be promoted in the A-Divison and this won’t be so easy. Already in our group we have with Austria, Czech Rep. and host Italy three uncomfortable opponents. And if we achieve the semi-finals other strong teams will be our opponents: Ireland, Russia, Wales and Belarus. The promotion is our target and this is very important for the Swiss team.”
Preview women national team
The Swiss women national team plays the European Nations Challenge from 11.-17.09.05 in the C-Divison in Prague. The team mostly exists of the successful players of Rotweiss Wettingen. National trainer Peer May keeps clearly an eye on the promotion in the B-Divison. The Swiss team plays first against the Czech Rep., Bulgaria and Serbia&Montenegro in their group and if they achieve the semi-finales they will be playing against Austria, Croatia, Hungary or Turkey.
