GERMANY have the edge over Argentina, Malaysia and South Africa in Group B of the Junior World Cup which begins in Rotterdam tomorrow.
This is the view of Malaysian coach Sarjit Singh.

“This is a tough group and the Germans have the edge over the rest,” said Sarjit.

“They are technically and tactically sound and are favourites for the title.

“They may not create many chances but they make them count.

“Our team are capable of creating more chances than the Germans but unfortunately, our scoring rate is lo- wer.”

The top three teams in each group will qualify for the second round.

How about South Africa and Argentina?

The South Africans have even voiced their confidence of beating Malaysia in the opening and crucial match tomorrow.

“South Africa are a robust team. Our players have to cope with this style.

“We know what to expect as we have seen them in action via videos.

“They are confident of beating us but our players are confident as well and ready for battle.”

Sarjit said Argentina should pose bigger problems to Malaysia as they are a formidable side.

They held Pakistan 3-3 in a tournament in Belgium last weekend.

“We do not know their strength but we have the chance to assess them when they play against Germany in their opening match,” said Sarjit.

He also had videos of Argentina in action – given by Dutch team officials yesterday.

Argentina thrashed Chile 7-0 in the final of the Pan American qualifier last March.

The Malaysians have never beaten Argentina in the Junior World Cup.

“It is going to be tough but I feel our players are capable of creating problems. It will depend much on the performance on match day,” said Sarjit.

After all, Malaysia held Pakistan 0-0 in the six-nation tournament in KL last March.
