Captain Mike Leonard is set to become the first Scotsman to win 100 outdoor caps after returning to the squad for a four-nation tournament in Austria this weekend.

Leonard, of Grange, missed the recent home series against Ireland through injury but returns along with Western Wildcats goalkeeper Kris Kane and Dundee Wanderers' Athens Olympian Niall Stott.

Work commitments keep Cannock midfielder Graham Moodie in England while Wildcats' Dougie Simpson is injured but his club-mate David Mitchell takes Moodie's place in midfield.

"The loss of Graham and Dougie will have a big impact on the squad but I still believe we will win this tournament," said coach Mathias Ahrens, assistant to England's Jason Lee for Great Britain in Athens last year.

This is a crucial part of our internal build up ahead of the Europeans and we can use this competition to re-focus the team and achieve some good results."

Starting on Friday, Scotland play Austria, Russia and Croatia in Vienna.

Squad: A McGregor (gk), C Harper (Aberdeen Asset Management); K Kane (gk), V Marwaha, D Mitchell, A Sewnauth (Western Wildcats); N Stott (Dundee Wanderers); G Dunlop (Greaves Clydesdale); M Leonard (capt, Grange); S Dick (Inverleith); J Christie, M Christie, C Nelson, M Ralph (Kelburne); A McBride (Annandale HC); D Ralph (Loughborough Students).

Mike Leonard is a Legend. Growing up through hockey, he was always a player I admired and looked up to. How fitting that he should be the first player to break the 100 caps barrier. Congratulations Mike.

Inverleith Rumours
I couldn't help notice the fevered transfer speculation on these pages over the past week. While we wait to see if Sewnath really joins Kelburne and whether Christie joins Clydesdale, I'd just like to confirm that the rumours are true and I will in fact be joining Inverleith for the 2005/2006 season.

For sure, it was too good a chance to let pass. The contract is intially for one season but if I can prove myself there is the option of more. I hope this will be the case. I've always been a fan of the club - people back in Holland watch all the games on TV. The way they play the game is known throughout world hockey.

The opportunity to play alongside world class players was too good to turn down and the likes of Neil Mitchinson, Chris Bird and Phil Hall are household names known the world over. For sure I'm still young but I can only improve my game from playing alongside such talents. There were several teams in for me when I announced I was leaving O.Z. but when my agent mentioned Inverleith it took me about 2 seconds to make the decision. Some clubs you don't turn down.

I know there will be questions but I don't really want to comment on the speculation on my good good friend Teun joining me here - that's for him to comment on. All I'll say is we've often talked about Scottish hockey and inevitably Inverleith at training.

Vishal does have over 100 caps but he has indoor as well as outdoor caps. i think Mike is the first to reach 100 outdoor. Congratulations Mike, well deserved.

True mike is a gd player, even tho hes nearly drawing his pension book! can still keep up with the young guys. Dont think he'll like the airiel x 40 route of the inverscum boys tho. Kelbourne for the title and clydesdale to kick some ass

True mike is a gd player, even tho hes nearly drawing out his pension book in hockey terms! he cant still keep up with the best. Not sure the inverscum airiel x 40 route will suit his game. Kelbourne for the title nxt year and clydesdale to frighten alot of teams
