Do the scoreboards go that high????
What's the point of wales playing England? Yes they need games before the European cup, but what's the point in getting thrashed by 10 goals?!!! If these players were English (oh wait, most of them are!!!!) none of them would even get into the 4th team. Guess that's why they're playing for Wales.....

lee ible will not make any impression @ senior international as hi is too small. How can anyone the size of a jelly baby expect to make saves anywhere other that on the middle of the goal. Harsh but fair. Just being realistic.

Bill, have you seen lee ible play? he saves shots, which is a big bonus for a keeper. to suggest he will only make saves that are in the midle of the goal is a joke. We will just see if him play for wales, then make judgment. Thanks alot tall bill

Did you see him this year then? and the other year when he played a couple of Div 1 games? He is a very good Div 2 player but not good enough for Div 1 and def not full international or prem. And yes i have seen him regularily for the last 4 seasons and it is a shame how a few people hype him up as he now beleives his own press but many other know different.
As for size Bill well the game is not played on grass anymore and it is not the 60's!

Lets not forget that Lee is U21. OK so he may not grow any more, but there is scope for him to bulk out a little and to also gain far more experience. He will be a very very good keeper, for now he's a very good keeper and one who I have no doubt will make it in the senior set up when he's ready.

I played in the same team as him for the past two years, in which he won player of the year twice. He is the best keeper in divison 1 by a mile, and is highly regarded by one of the England goal keeping coaches. I think people need to take into consideration he played for one of the weakest sides in the league and that goals will be conceded. He will 100% play for Wales and a prem side. He is not one to beleive his own hype, he is just confident in his own ability, which all top sports participants have. If you have seen him this year you must have been watching the other keeper still drunk from your saturday night antics.

Lee Ible
Unfortunately for Lee he is highly rated by the English goalkeeping coach Roger Newcombe. Newcombe is not however rated by anyone in the setup and is responsible for developing mainly women goalkeepers. He has some interesting ideas on tecnique shall we say! He also coaches at Brooklands.
The the comment that Lee will play senior international hockey and be a premiership goalkeeper is a little short sighted. Name me a Prem team that Lee would start in? It is therefore unlikely that he will gain enough experience at a sufficiently high level to get a shot at starting any internationals.
Player of the year at Brooklands is no great accolade as they are possibly one of the worst teams in Div 1. Sorry.

Player of the year for a clearly relegated side is not a great achievement for a GK as all the other players were poor and he had many shots.
Just to highliht two games - Bournville and Bowdon away, very very poor but i am sure there is an excuse for this by MR Gascoigne!
Best player in league, well two spring to mind and have proven how good they are this season - Simpkin (Beeston) and Turner (Bowdon) by far the two best and neither from my club so i have a slightly less biased opinion than yours showed. Turner proved how much better than Ible he was in that game for all to see..fact!
Roger Newcombe has built him up but time will tell, unfortunately for Brooklands the opinions of many there (mainly players) are non-sensical and has resulted in them being releagted...fact!

A team may just be biased, also surely Brooklands players will not have seen other GK's in the league tested when they played them and in training he will look better as the shooting is not of the highest order.
From seeing prem and div 1 games over the previous years i feel there are only two GK's that could play prem - Turner (Bowdon) and Simkin (Beeston) although Simkin can have bad games and is putting on a bit of weight so by next season may be out of this catergory.
Turner has proven himself this season and is improving, from what i saw had outstanding games every game he played. Ible however was very poor on a few occassions that i saw him last season, but also should be improving.
The point of the last game of the season - Brooklands v Bowdon is a good one. Ible was again poor and Turner very good. The goal he let in was after a fine double save.

GK's
Simkin is not as good as he was and dont think he could play prem. Ible may get better but is by no means the best in the league but i think he is just good enough for div 1 at the moment. Turner is very good and looks to be best in league, there were a few poor GK's in Div 1 last seaon but surely the standard will improve with the re-shuffle.

Div 1 Keepers
The best was without a doubt Hibbert from Southgate and rightly so and closely followed by Wellings from Belper. Both are current Internationals so it seems only logical. Local talent looks quite thin on the ground at this level. Watch out for a young fellow by the name of Ben Bradley from the Derbyshire area who is exceptional for someone in the game for only 2 years.

Why does this country continue to put down sports people with no due cause? Especially when you can only have seen a hand full of appearances at best for most players you are talking about.
Ible is a very capable young keeper and im not sure how you can say that Turner is a better keeper than Ible as he spent most of the year on the Bench behind a poor German Keeper. Ible has also just been given exposure to the Welsh senior side so he is sure to improve with the help from the coaches and top quality keepers such as George Harris. Time will be the only way to tell as he is still under 21 and I am sure he will prove you doubters wrong.
Roger Newcombe seems to do a lot of coaching for top quality clubs and England International teams, last time i saw him he was coaching the Men's under 21's squad for the junior world cup-not bad for someone who isn't rated in the so called "set-up".

mat simkin
I have played with and against him and have nothing but respect for him. He has proved himself in the national league and he should be given more of an opportunity at international level. The welsh management overlook Simkins ability. I wasnt at Swansea, but i am informed that the 6 England goals came from 8 penalty corners and were not the most ruthless finishes. Surely Simkin could have been used when it was clear Harris wasn't at his best.
As for Lee Ible. I don't understand how people can write him off; he is a young goalie who has many years ahead of him. Whilst he may not be good enough for snr int hockey at the moment, who's to say he won't be in the near future.

GK's
I cannot comment on wellings but Hibbert is poor, just because he is an international doesnt mean he is class. I have seen him training as well as games and very dodgy on shorts among other things.
I didnt write Lee offf, just said he should get better but not there yet.
I have spoken to a couple of people i know at Bowdon and Turner only benched for the German for 4 games (who was poor but chosen cos he was 6ft 7inc), but is this his fault? I have been told the coach last season had some very stange views on GK's, is the Brooklands 2nd GK any good?
When it comes down to it, all these GK's are in the top 20 in the country which is a good effort i say.

Lee Ible is not even close to being the best keeper in the division and frankly neither is Chris Hibbert. Wellings maybe, but the best is comfortably Chris Boyle at Bath Buccaneers.

I agree with your there about Ible and Hibbert for sure. The Bath Gk is good too, i would say the top 3 are Boyle, Wellings and Turner.
Will be a very interesting league though this seaon. Firebrands should be hard to beat.

Ben Bradley is certainly one for the future in goalkeeping terms. For his age and relative inexperience in the game, only two years, he will be one to watch for possible international honors. That is subject to keeping him in hockey and not allowing him to go to the dreaded rugby. He's pretty smart at that too.

Ben Bradley is one of the most able keepers i have seen for his age, and after playing a few games with him, it is clear he is one for the future. he saved our team on more than one occasion.
