Strange conditions
I find it strange that it did not rain in Tobago for Three days but yet the field was waterlogged for the team from trinidad ro play on , and then the umpiring was something else to be desired as quoted by the umpire from Tobago"Well it is Tit for Tat" if that is what teams have toput up with in Tobago then i suggest that the Hockey Board schedule and pay to send umpires to Tobago who are neutral to do thee games.

Starnge Conditions
Are you suggesting that Paradise waterlogged the pitch to gain an advantage? Were Paradise on a differnt field from Magnolia? didnt the umpire stop the game to ask the 'Mags' Umpire Lucy Lee to refrain from blowing dubious calls in front of the 'presiding umpire'. Yes there were some strange calls but just as many came from the 'Mags umpire' who was the most senior by many years.
Sour grapes if you ask me. Dey get there ass wash and cant take it. Pardise have beaten Defence force. drawn with Malvern, and beaten other top teams in Tobago because they are the ones who play most on grass. Simple. How come none of the other teams cry foul except MAgs. Is it that Mags feel that they cannot to lose a game?
Well done Paradise! keep cutting dey tail!

Forward NEVER Backward EVER!!!!!!!
Sour grapes....... pleaseeeeeeeeeeee win lose or draw that's one thing yah can't say about Mags!!! They are always happy, liming and having a good time no matter what! The condition of the playing field (if we could call it that) was DEPLORABLE to say the least!!! I agree that Paradise play/practice most on grass (seems they are very good at playing in water and mud as well) but that does not justify the results they have been having in Tobago - the playing surface is not suitable for any hockey worse yet Championship hockey - and about Paradise beating/drawing with the so called top teams when they played in Tobago doesn't that say something!!! Paradise has taken points off all the top teams and yet still when they are put to play on a surface that hockey is supposed to played on (well sort of but that's another story) they are beated by a team that has not won a game for the season!!!!! hummmmmmmm........ not so "simple" huh????? - Those in authority have stated that they would not allow school hockey to be played on any grass surfaces in Trinidad as it would be taking a STEP BACKWARD........ yet still CHAMPTIONSHIP teams are being sent to play in Tobago on a surface that in no way could be described as a playing field - ONE HUNDRED STEPS BACKWARD!! - please get your priorities in order.

Forward only if you win!
Could it be that Paradise won their encounter because several of their players have represented T&T at international level. Would you suggest we keep going to Trinidad and play all games there or just not play at all. The pitch was not of the best .... agreed, but both teams played on it! . Paradise have won on the turf in Trinidad. And my comment is that only Mags complain when they lose that its the umpire or the pitch never mind they lime a lot (by themselves I'm told ). Yet you make no comment of the poor umpiring of the "Mags official'. She should not be allowed to umpire any Mags games. Complain bout dat too!
SOUR GRAPES? Yuh damn right!
What we should be having is a discussion on de poor turf conditions in Trinidad and when Tobago could get its own turf and why de govt spending $TT 850M when dey cant maintain one for $3 Mil

FORWARD NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Older National Player - you seem .... No, you ARE very biased in your opinion on every aspect - acatually I think you might be the "sour grapes" here - Believe it or not even if Mags won I would have complained about the Tobago "pitch" (I'm only calling it that because that's how you refer to it - it was more like a PIG STY!!!). I really do wish we had won because then people like you would not consider it "sour grapes" when I complain. When you get a chance take a look at the standings, that so calleld "cut tail" is of no consequence to Mags. No matter what you say or feel about Paradise players (and I agree that you have some good young talent there) you cannot justify the conditions under which that game was played and no I don't believe Paradise won because they have several National players!!!
Next point - you say I make no comment about the umpiring well .... obviously from your comments it seems that there was only one umpire at that game!!! You really don't want me to get into that aspect do you????? All I have to say is that I was an unfortunate player who was subjected to both the MUD and the umpiring that day ....... once again you are being biaised and cannot honestly critize only one umpire. Let me know if this is something you really want me to get into (as like you I can start calling names and referring to MANY incidents).
Third Point - Only Mags complain when they lose and Mags lime by themselves?????............ Mags have a good time and lime FULL STOP!!!!! No matter what............. even those that NEVER have a good word to say about us could come up and have a drink/lime any day any time. AND....... every damn team finds something to complain about when they lose (mainly the umpiring!!) So stop talking nonsense.........
Finally, I ACTUALLLY (smile) agree with you - Tobago does need a turf and so does Trinidad but unfortunately you and I could talk til we blue NUTTIN WILL CHANGE!

Affiliation
First and foremost i am not affiliated to Mags , I am an independant person who over the years have been in some horrible situations while playing over in Tobago with Tobago Umpires and have been seeing blatant disregard for the safety of players on other teams , and it is time that it stops and that the Players from Tobago stop viewing themselves as being picked on by the trinidad clubs.
So you know what when i hear that an umpire can say that he was doing TIT FOR TAT Umpiring then it leaves the game in disrepute as the umpire said so out loud for all to hear which was told to me by a Tobago player mind you not a so called trini player . What else upsets me is that anytime Mrs Knott is not in Tobago you can tell because the behaviour of the players on the pitch would not be tolerated by her i am sure as she is a lady of respect and love for the game of hockey.

AFFILIATION - HELL YEAH
I am definately affiliated to Mags and proud of it.
Older National Player for your information Mags do not only complain when they lose - in fact we complained bitterly about the condition of that so called "pitch" BEFORE WE LOST. We played the game under protest which was indicated to the umpires and the technical table BEFORE WE LOST (check the match sheet). The only reason we played was the fear of being told that we would have to incur the expense of travelling to Tobago on another occasion to re-play the game. So the complaints have nothing to do with the fact that we lost. As somebody indicated before check the standings and I think you should check the facts too.

First and formost my fellow readers. I was present on the day of the matches mentioned above.Yea the conditions were a bit poor but no one has control over the weather.SO your comment about the field being waterlogged really doesn't make any sence.I do not know if u knew that the rain fell throughout the nite till the morning of the match.
An i do agree that at times the umpiring was not up to par (by both umpires).Could it be that the umpires have not reviewed the new rules of the sport? Tit for Tat the so said quote is also not a valid statement made by the tobago umpire. As a senior umpire lucy should have known that the call made by the tobago umpire was right. But his decision was over ruled by Ms lucy lee so the arguement was really unnecessary. From what i saw at the game the only Mas player that was actually puting an effort in trying to help her team actually gain a point was Stacy Sui-Butt and she took her chances well but she alone cannot win the game can she.Paradise played under the same condition as Mags but made the best of their chances. Is it that paradise wanted to win more?
Question: Dey say that mags lime alot, could it have been that they were liming before the match because they thought that Paradise would have been a run over with Mags being the reigning champions.WHO CAN PREDICT THE WEATHER?
Very Very old player.... I do agree with you that Tobago Needs a Turf and they have proven it. Take a look at the recent U-21 teams that represented Trinidad and Tobago at the junior Pan Am Cup, "SIX of the girls out of a squad of 16 were from Tobago and 4 were on the boys team". Thats a total of 10 (with 2 of the players being Goal Keepers and first CHOICE) individuals from a club which they say cant play hockey and shouldn't be included in the TTHB. Doesn't that Prove something?
AS it was brought to my attention isn't trinidad goin to get a new turf laid down after or before the end of the ongoin hockey season?
Paradise has gone through alot of criticism by the trinidad teams throughout the years and it hasn't stopped them from achieving what they want to achieve.Keeeeeeeeeep Going Paradise an one day you'll get the turf and they go see who is d boss.

All we ever hear is about all the problems Tobago have to go to Trinidad and how they are badly Treated by the Trinidad teams.
Over the years Paradise & Mags have had some great times. Especially after our games. Food and drink for sooooo Currry crab by Annette's house, on the beach or on the field.I have been doing this since I was a child it was always fun to go to TOBAGO
However I must agree with one of the previous writer it seems as though whenever Annette is not around the discipline of the Paradise players drops. Players as well as umpires have had to put up with abuse by both players coaches and officials from Tobago.
Annette girl seems like you have to be around for ever it have nothing with WIN LOOSE or DRAW as it does with sportsmanship both on and off the field.
Maybe Paradise needs to look at why their tournament in the past few years has been so poorly attended. It was was once unheard of that you did not go to the Tobago tournament. Now who goes?????
Yes I agree that the field is poor. But as to Trinidad getting a second turf before Tobago gets one(which I do not think is going to happen the TTHB sitting on their bums and not doing very much about it). Maureen and her board members should put up or shut up and get out.
Be realistic there is one team in Tobago and hoe many in Trinidad???? you figure it out why the should be a new one in Trinidad.
I have not been around hockey in TNT for a few years we should be happy with what we have there.

If Paradise has 6 National players then why aren't the on top the league.
On the other hand Mags has only 1 on the Junior team and in the past few years they have only had 2 on the senior team. Yet if you check the records over the past 10 year they have never come lower than 3rd.
Stacey is undoubtly one of the best if not the best in the Caribbean in recent years, however Mags does not need her to win she is a great asset to her club and just make winning much easier for them.
Mags you have been one of the most successful teams in Hockey in Trinidad in recent times. On loss to a young upcoming team as opposed to winning the league I prefer to add the league title to the National Indoor, Chinese indoor, Opening Tournament, Petrotrin six aside and what ever else comes along.
Paradise you should feel good you beat the top team in the country BUT where do you stand in the League.

Imagine a team such as Paradise that boasts Three womens teams in the league did not come to play Big Four because four of their players were in Barbados . I wonder what they were afraid of (mabye showing the rest of the hockey fraternity that they really cannot meet other teams standards ON TURF ) HMMMMMMMMM.
