Double Olympian Rhona Simpson has announced she is coming out of international retirement - 14 months after quitting following Great Britain's failure to qualify for the Athens Olympics.
Her decision came too late for her to be included in Scotland's squad to play in Holland this weekend but the Giffnock forward's U-turn is a huge boost for their European Championships campaign in Dublin in August.
Scotland coach Lesley Hobley has cut back on the squad she took to Manchester last weekend for the trip to Holland, losing Bonagrass Grove trio Ailsa Robertson, Ali Bell and Carmin Dow, Giffnock's Fiona Sullivan (Giffnock) and Glasgow Western's Lorna Dobbie, while Giffnock duo Julie Kilpatrick and Jacqui Fortune were unavailable due to exam and work commitments.
They will play two matches against the hosts in Amersfoort, although the Dutch will not be at full strength because of domestic league play-offs.
Despite losing both matches to England, Hobley said: "Last weekend was a really positive camp and the girls now believe they can compete at that level.
"This weekend will give us a great opportunity to continue the momentum and build on the experience from England."
Squad: D McLeod (gk), V Bunce, L Carroll, L Clement, C Valentine (Bonagrass Grove); J Burley (Giffnock); A Walker (gk), C Forrest, L Gordon, K Gray, S Judge, E Rochlin, C Semple (Glasgow Western); L Munn, A Rowatt (Grange Ladies); A Clark (Bowdon Hightown).
