Paradise Hockey club teams were much more successful on Sunday than on Saturday in their games played in the Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Federation League Championship Division competitions.
On Saturday they lost all four games while the scenario was very different the following day as they won two of the games they played and drew the other.
Head coach Annette Knot reported that while not making excuses, part of their problem has to do with their training on the uneven surface at Mt Pleasant recreational ground and then having to make the necessary adjustments during their games on the smooth astro turf at the Tacarigua Hockey Centre.
The Championship women team suffered the hardest lost of the club's four teams. They totally dominated their encounter against Raiders and closed the half with a one-goal advantage courtesy Chevy Wallace. On the resumption they continued pressuring their opponents but two quick goals within the space of five minutes put paid to their hopes of a first victory in other games.
However, the Championship Men's team desperately needs to turn around their fortunes soon if they are not to end up in relegation trouble again. They lost their first game on Saturday to Paragon 2-0 but were able to salvage a point from a one all draw with the powerful Notre Dame team. However, they still remain in the cellar position on the standings. The Under 19 Boys and Girls were outplayed on Saturday by their Paragon counterparts, 8-1 and 2-0, respectively. However, the following day they gave their share of licks when the boys bombed out Petrotrin 5-0 thanks to a double from Vernell Rivers and one each from Karlos Stephens, Christopher Scipio and Simon Craig.
The girls team was even more impressive than the boys trouncing Ventures 7-0. Their goal scorers were Chevy Wallace 2, Racine Chandler 2, Gabby Phillips 2 and Rene Charles 1.
