Malaysia won the four-nation hockey tournament in Poland yesterday after completing their fixtures unbeaten.

They defeated the home team 3-2 in their final round-robin match to clinch the title.

Malaysia had defeated Switzerland and China by similar 5-0 margins on Friday and Saturday.

In yesterday?s game, all three Malaysian goals came from penalty corner set pieces.

Mohd Fairuz Ramli put Malaysian 1-0 up but Poland equalised to end the first-half 1-1.

Skipper S. Kuhan then restored Malaysia?s lead in the second half but again Poland equalised.

Luckily for Malaysia, Hairul Nizam Abdul Rani added the third to make sure of a win.

The Malaysians are on a playing tour in Europe as part of their preparations for the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, which will be played at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil from May 26 to June 5.

The teams competing in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup are Pakistan, India, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and South Africa.
