The All China Games Champions, Guangdong defeated Hong Kong's Shaheen club 2-1, at Kings Park on Sunday night, to take their 2nd consecutive South China Premier League title.
Guangdong scored first through Luk Fungfai, after Shaheen had missed a penalty stroke after 10 minutes. Guangdong went into half-time at 1-0.
Alfonzo Cordero levelled the scores early into the 2nd half, and Shaheen mounted endless pressure on the top Chinese side. Shaheen continued to have numerous chances, but failed to take the advantage, with poor finishing let them down.
Guangdong scored late, and took their second in the 2-year old regional league.
Earlier HKFC B secured the First Division title, with a 4-1 win over the Dutch Club, which means that their will be no "promotion or relegation", between Premier and First Division, this season.

true or false
Shaheen is prepaired not to field in the Ali Brothers and some other first team players for the next season. They wanted to join some tourny in china-
I think they've fallen heads over hills. They are good in HK but no where near any professional teams.
My advise is to split your players to different teams to balance the standard of the clubs in HK

For Gossip
Shaheen players are unique because most of us grew up in the same neighbourhood. (4 x Ali brother, 3 x Mohammed Brothers, Ishtiaq, Alfonso, Nawab, and of course most of our Ex-Shaheen players and our supporters. We went to the same school "EK" which produce numerous good players.
We touch ppls with all our heart for hockey & brotherhood in the team because we have the passion for hockey. Today, PPLS like Chandran, Farooq, Derek, Alvin, Howard, Harry...etc. They became good close friends and teamates because we share the same passion. (Derek & Harry attended the same school "EK")
I was very happy to put on a great show for the crowd because they told me the game vs Gounzhou was one of the best ever in HKG hockey. What more can I say. Personally, I enjoyed the game so much because the respect that we received from the visiting team was tremandous. Moreover, the crowd enjoyed as much as we players did.
The comments about how bad, unfair, or negative saying about Shaheen is useless. Shaheen & KCC are the only 2 teams producing local talents. I think it is only fair if Shaheen & KCC are truely supported by the hockey fan.
My opinion for the other article about playing in China for some tounaments;
If true, this is the only way HK can lift the level of hockey. To gain more exposure since the international games for HK is really limited. We players need to find ways to do that because Hockey is not a focus sport. PPL who are criticising the HKHA don't know much about it but we players do.... this mentality to find ways to gain maximum higher standard of hockey exposure is positive and that is what we "who have the passion for hockey" are doing.
We need your support not dicouragements.

Re alfonso's comments
Mate your final against Gounzhou was good, and certainly you were deserved finalists. However you make a comment critising those who make negative comments about either your club or the HKHA, yet you follow that up but making a backhanded comment that Shaheen and KCC are the ONLY teams producing local talent. By local talent do you mean Pakistan and Indian players only. Do Dutch, Chinese, African, American, Australian or any other nationality who grew up and went to school in HK not count? As a matter of fact there are currently other clubs in the premier division who have current players in the team who go to school in HK (is that not supporting HK development). By the way, I would like to send some kids to the Shaheen or KCC Saturday morning coaching clinics, could you tell me where these are? I know that HKFC and Valley have very successful coaching clinics every Sat moring that have lots of LOCAL kids at them (I would have thought this was a good example of producing and developing local talent). Do Shaheen and KCC also run such clinics?
Now don't get me wrong, I rate Shaheen highly - good blokes and pretty good players but don't go complaining about people making negative comments about your club and then go making negative comments yourself. You deserve credit for a great season but your not the only club that contributes to HK hockey. The league would look very poor with just Shaheen and KKC in the comp. The sooner you (we) realize that we need to support eachother and that ALL clubs are valued for their contribution and participation in the league the better off things will be.

young talent
Its was great so see great young players, of Ali brother standard, playing at Kings Park last Sunday, for both KCC and Valley.
You don't have to go far back to find HK born talent, better than the Ali brothers such as England and GB Internationals;
Jerome Goudie (HKFC), Andy West (Island School-KCC), Danny Heydon (Kaitak),
and EHL First League players, Tom Ayres (HKFC) and Patrick Fok (KCC, Kaitak, HKFC).......not a lot of India or Pakistani blood in that lot......

To Beven
I could see the valley juniors were very impressive on Sunday. I strongly emphazise Shaheen & KCC because their players do have a greater chance to stay in HK to develope into Senior players & HKG Rep... Sincerely hope that more of the juniors from the other clubs that were not mentioned could represent HKG. Sounds very selfish because we grew up in HK. If theses young talents can one day make it to a higher level then HK team... I wish them all the best. Thanks Beven for all the positive response.

California Cup USA
My name is Ravi Kanwal and I am trying to get in touch with the management of the top teams from Hong Kong. Having grown up in Hong Kong and having played hockey for NBC in the 1980's for many many years I am familiar with the level of the teams in Hong Kong.
The purpose of this comminique is to look into the possibility of inviting a top team from Hong Kong / China to participate in the annual California Cup in USA. In the recently concluded tournament, teams participated from Holland, Argentina, India, Canada, Mexico and Taiwan. Limited subsidies are available for a limited number of teams from overseas.
For information about the recently concluded 34th annual tournament, please visit www.planetfieldhockey.com and www.fieldhockey.com by searching for California Cup on their sites.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
