India can now play a major role in development of hockey globally as the Secretary General of the Indian Hockey Federation, K Jothikumaran, has been appointed in the Development Council of the game's world governing body, FIH.
Jothikumaran has been appointed as a member in the Council, one of the principal arms of the International Hockey Federation which looks into the game at grassroot level and is responsible for its subsequent global development, IHF said here today.

Jothikumaran, the first Indian to make it to the post, said his endeavour would be to make the game more popular.

"I am very pleased and I would be looking to help the game not only in India but all over the world," Jothikumaran said. PTI

grass roots
a man who was a clerk with state bank of india few years ago then became a secretary of the district then state hockey federation and then became the secretary of IHF and now holds major shares in three hotels outside india has indeed grown up very fast from the grassroots of hockey and in his tenure indian hockey has gone from smaller to tiny at grassroots, will now see the interests of international grassroots......or may be some more growth in hotel industry stakes internationally.

FIH >>> Free In Hand

Come on Guys, they have appointed JK for development post, what happened Dutchies were not interested or what. The Jokers running FIH are ruining this game for their own gain.

Maybe Hari will not print this article as he needs to keep them happy.

What is JK going to do? Same as the rest All expenses paid trips, Free Travel, Free Hotels etc.. and no work.

As I explained the meaning at the start of this post, that is what FIH is coming to, I am moving to RUGBY.

what a joke!
Jothi, grassroots? This must be the biggest joke. Hockey is doomed if people like Jothi are entrusted with the task of development.

I would think the FIH would have gone for people like T. Paramalingam, who has taken hockey in malaysia to a level that will never be matched by anyone.

Time for a ritual ! Like when Jothi was made the secretary of IHF just before olympics, he consulted some astrologers and organised a big ritual. His thought was that if india lands a medal, then, it will be a big big boost for his career, as the secretary.
Well India hasn't done anything worthwhile for years, but Jothi sure is going places.
Is he going to occupy the IHF position as well ? If not, it's good riddance.

I'll tone down this post...as it looks like Hari deleted my last message!!

Jothi is the face of Indian hockey's incompetence. What has this guy achieved for Indian hockey? How many coaches has he got sacked?

How FIH can appoint this guy speaks volumes about FIH's disregard to the future of 'grass roots' hockey.

What is going on in IHF?

GM paramasivam while I applaude ur suggestion of the MHF secretary you need to look at the context of wrold development and what it means. It nt a manner of execution or implementation but the management of it.

while JK may or may not process such credentials if it dificult to judge and moreover blame one person for a downfall in a country

JK and Hockey
JK does not even know english so I am not sure what Hockey he can develop at the grass roots. He was not only a bad hockey player for SBI but he was the most useless clerk ever to work there. This dude has no consiense. He is a looser who with KPS Giller has taken Indian hockey down the tubes.

I wish the Gov would do something about this.
