England, after an encouraging 4-1 victory against Egypt in their opening game in the Sahara Champions Challenge in Alexandria, were brought back to reality in their second game when they were thrashed 5-2 by South Korea on Saturday.

In a niggly game, Mark Pearn and Barry Middleton hit goals for England. But Jung Seon Lee claimed a hat-trick to prove South Korea's overall superiority. England play Argentina tonight before facing an in-form Belgium on Wednesday.

In Kuala Lumpur, the England Under-21 side had to settle for the wooden spoon in their Six Nations Tournament - losing their final game on a penalty shoot-out to Germany.

In yesterday's National League programme, Loughborough Students won 5-1 at home to Firebrands and Old Loughtonians won 2-0 away at St Albans. At the top, Cannock moved six points clear of second-placed Reading with a 2-1 win away to the Berkshire side. The former England striker Danny Hall scored yet another hat-trick for Guildford in a 6-2 victory at Chelmsford to keep alive the Surrey club's play-off hopes.

Fyffes Leicester lead the Women's First Division - three points ahead of Ipswich, who they beat 4-1 on Saturday, although yesterday they struggled from 3-1 down to draw 4-4 with Harleston Magpies.

An average of 48 caps per player is hardly an inexperienced team! Korea are the top ranked team in that competition. A 5-2 defeat isn't the end of the world. Are you so nieve to think that a team can be thrown together in a few months, and beat everyone straight away? You are a complete fool if you think that is the case. England played a GK in his first international and by all accounts he looked a little out his depth. To lose one of your key defenders and first choice PC option half way through the game it is always going to be tough. Give them a break for God's sake! It is great that all the old boys (like me) aren't in the side any more! Give the lads like Kirkham, West, Daly etc a chance to show how good they are! We just have to face the fact that at the moment, Korea, Germany, Autralia etc are better than us. I dont think that will be the case if the core of this side stays together for the next eight or more years! We shall see how they get on...if is far to early to judge!
