England's men's hockey team began their Champions Challenge campaign with a 4-1 win over hosts Egypt in Alexandria.
James Tindall opened the scoring six minutes before half-time and Barry Middleton flicked home the second eight minutes after the break.
Egypt pulled one back through Tamer El Sayed but goals from Matt Daly and Glenn Kirkham sealed England's victory.
In other matches, Belgium beat South Africa 5-1 while top seeds Korea were held to a 3-3 draw with Argentina.
England coach Jason Lee was pleased with his side's victory over Egypt but warned against complacency.
"It was good. We expected it to be a tough game and this is a good reflection of where we stand - but there is a long way to go," he said.
Tindall sustained a cut face in the victory while Andy West took a knock to his leg, but both are expected to be fit to play against Korea on Saturday.
"There are improvements which need to be made to get us to where we want to be, but at this point I'm hopeful the players will stand up to it against Korea," added Lee.
"And teams like Korea and Argentina taking points off each other will work in our favour."
