Jamaica suffer second loss in Pan Am Junior hockey
in SAN JUAN

Jamaica's Under-21 women's hockey team lost 2-0 to Mexico at the fifth Pan American Junior Women's Championship on Thursday.

It was the second loss for Jamaica in the tournament and they now lie one from bottom without a point in Pool A.

The Trinidadians had contrasting fortunes as they tasted victory for the first time, drubbing the Dominican Republic 8-0.

Kristin Thompson slotted home three goals to lead the twin-island republic and guide her team to fourth in the standings on three points after one win and a loss.

Barbados found themselves in losers' row when they were thrashed 6-0 by the United States in Pool B. They now lie fourth in the standings with three points after one win and one loss.

In other action, Bermuda were whipped 8-0 by Canada while Uruguay beat Puerto Rico 7-0 and Argentina beat Chile 4-0.

Yesterday was a rest day in the tournament but today, Barbados clash with Uruguay, while Trinidad and Jamaica will do battle.
